Organizational Statement on the Current Political and Social Climate
EPHC will not tolerate acts of hate and bigotry. The current political climate and a wave of hate crimes across the nation have left many in our community in fear for their safety and anxious about an uncertain future. El Programa Hispano Catolico (EPHC) is committed to supporting and partnering with the Latinx community to promote a mission of improving the quality of life, increasing self-sufficiency and mutual respect and understanding between cultures. We will continue to support the safety and well-being of Latinos in Oregon and stand in solidarity with undocumented populations, communities of color, faith communities, the LBGTQ community and all historically oppressed communities. We denounce anti-immigrant rhetoric and policies and commit to maintaining a safe and supportive space for our immigrant and undocumented populations. We will continue to advocate, deliver services and foster partnership and collaboration to promote an equitable, inclusive and just society. We will leverage systems, policies and agency practices to actively interrupt hate and racism and create safe and supportive spaces. EPHC will collaborate with community partners to promote empowerment through education, community resources and strategies of cultural resilience and healing.
