El Programa Hispano’s 1st Bilingual Bookfest is dedicated to fostering a love for reading, promoting literacy through education and cultural enrichment within our community, and is an exciting opportunity for individuals of all ages to explore a diverse selection of books, engage in educational activities, and celebrate the joy of reading. 

Our event will include: 

• Promoting Literacy: A book fair provides a platform to showcase a wide range of literature, including bilingual and Spanish-language books. Encouraging reading among individuals of all ages improves literacy skills, cognitive development, and academic success.  
• Cultural Enrichment: Celebrating Latine/Xicane literature allows us to embrace and appreciate the diverse cultural heritage within the community. It will enable individuals to connect with their roots, fostering a sense of pride and belonging.  
• Book Fair: A curated collection of books spanning various genres, including literature by Latine/Xicane authors, children’s books, fiction, non-fiction, and more. Attendees will have the chance to discover and purchase these enriching literary works.  
• Author and Speaker: Latine/Xicane authors and speakers will share their experiences and insights to inspire and motivate individuals within the community. Such engagements can also be powerful role models for aspiring writers and readers.  
• Children’s Corner: A dedicated space for young readers with storytelling sessions, book-related crafts, and activities designed to initiate a passion for reading from an early age. Reading and exposing children to books from an early age provides numerous cognitive, linguistic, and emotional benefits.  
• Community Resources: Learn about local literacy programs, educational initiatives, and other resources available to support the community.
