Pico’s Story: Dreaming Big with SUN

Howard, better known as Pico, lights up when he talks about SUN. For him, it’s a place of fun, friendship, and possibility. Whether it’s eating a good meal, playing basketball, or practicing football – the sport he’s loved for six years – Pico finds joy in the opportunities SUN provides.
“You should go [to SUN] because it’s fun and you get to learn more. It’s like extra school that helps you get smarter. And it can help you get to college.”
A Place to Grow
At SUN, Pico isn’t just playing, he’s learning. He dreams of playing football at the University of Oregon one day, and he knows that getting there means working hard in the classroom, too.
“To get there, I know I need to work harder and do good in school so I can actually play.”
The meals, sports, and mentorship he receives through SUN help him stay focused, healthy, and motivated. And while he loves the games, he also values the friendships he’s made along the way.
