For 17 years, Graciela has come to El Programa Hispano Catolico looking for connection. Each time, she has found a place that feels like home. When she speaks about EPHC, her eyes fill with emotion. “Es como mi segunda casa.” Her story reminds us why our community-centered services matter. Through senior support, emergency assistance, and programs that build belonging, EPHC offers dignity, stability, and hope when families need it most.

When you meet Mario De León, he’s usually on a ladder with paint on his hands and a picture already forming in his mind. He grew up in East Multnomah County and spends a lot of time in Rockwood, where he once ran around as a kid and now works as an artist, filling neighborhood storefronts and gathering places with color, memory, and pride.

Behind every program at EPHC are young people with big dreams, real challenges, and voices full of wisdom. This summer, we sat down with three students, and one dedicated site manager at Ron Russel Middle School, to hear how our after-school and summer programs have impacted their lives. These stories remind us why community matters. Our SUN Community Schools and youth programs don’t just fill hours after school - they create spaces where children can grow, find community, and dream big.
