Crisis Line Services

Linea UNICA provides 24 hours a day, 7 days a week support for survivors of interpersonal violence. Staff and trained advocates provide crisis intervention, emotional support, safety planning, shelter or motel advocacy, information about protective orders, and assistance in identifying appropriate resources and referrals.

The crisis line also serves as an access point for the rest of UNICA’s services.

Urgent Services

Introducing Urgent Services, dedicated to supporting survivors of domestic and sexual violence. Our advocates provide crucial assistance, including safety planning, referrals to community resources, and guidance through the legal and medical systems. Count on us to be there for you in times of urgent need.

Advocacy and Case Management

Advocates help with safety planning and access to services by providing information and referrals to other community resources. Safety planning is offered to all survivors of domestic and sexual violence through formal and informal conversations with the survivors in which our agency works with survivors to identify and address risks, barriers, or concerns regarding the ability to stay safe. Our agency offers safety planning through crisis lines, at shelters, and/or through other services. Accompaniment to DHS and other services as needed may also be done.

Medical Accompaniment and Advocacy

Advocates may accompany or advocate for survivors who seek medical attention from injuries/trauma/illnesses that have resulted from the domestic and/or sexual violence.

Safe & stable housing

Survivor Housing Services

Survivor Housing Services provides safe and stable housing for survivors of domestic and sexual violence. Our Housing Advocates offer various programs to address houselessness and support financial stability. From Rapid Rehousing to rental assistance and eviction prevention, we are dedicated to helping survivors maintain their homes. Our Housing and Economic Empowerment Program offers educational classes for long-term housing success.

Housing Support and Case Management

Our survivor housing programs assist survivors of domestic and sexual violence establish safe and stable housing. Housing Advocates work closely with survivors to help them remain housed or resolve houselessness caused by incidents of interpersonal violence. We offer multiple housing programs to meet the various needs of survivors. Each housing program is unique and has specific eligibility requirements. Rapid Rehousing

Supports survivors by removing barriers to safe housing such as assistance with move in costs, debt collections, poor rental history, lease breaks, and temporary placement with partner shelter agencies as needed.

Short and Long Term Housing Assistance

Supports qualified survivors with 3 – 12 months of rental assistance while they stabilize their financial health towards independence.

Eviction Prevention

Supports survivors remain housed by providing advocacy, referral to renters/housing legal support, and/or assistance with rental debt to prevent eviction.

Housing and Economic Empowerment

Our Housing and Economic Empowerment Program provides survivors with educational classes to support long term stable housing success. Classes offered include, but are not limited to, Signs of Financial Abuse, Money and Trauma, Budgeting 101, Credit Scores, Know Your Housing Rights, Understanding Rental History, Assessing Your Current Financial Health, Resume Writing, Job Seeking 101, ITN and Taxes.

Culturally specific

Mental Health Services

UNICA’s Mental Health Services is dedicated to providing culturally specific and trauma-informed counseling. Our Qualified Mental Health Practitioners offer individual and family counseling for Latine families impacted by interpersonal violence, focusing on improving parent-child interactions to break the cycle of family violence. Additionally, we offer trauma-informed counseling for Latine survivors of sexual violence. Join our supportive Spanish-speaking psychoeducation groups, including the Saber es Poder program for trauma recovery and empowerment, as well as curriculum-based support groups to empower survivors with valuable knowledge and peer support in areas such as safety planning, healthy relationships, and self-image development.

PChIP Qualified Mental Health Practitioner

Our PChIP Qualified Mental Health Practitioner (QMHP) offers culturally specific mental health counseling to Latinx families who have been impacted by interpersonal violence through individual family counseling that focuses on improving parent/child interactions with the goal of ending cycles of family violence. Spanish Support and Psychoeducation Groups

Saber es Poder

A 20 week culturally specific Trauma Recovery and Empowerment (TREM) psychoeducation group for survivors of interpersonal violence. Currently restricted to families living within the City of Portland.

Psychoeducation/Peer Support Group

Our curriculum-based support groups are designed to empower survivors of domestic and sexual violence by providing education and peer support. Curriculum topics include, but are not limited to, safety planning, establishing healthy boundaries and relationships, coping skills development, positive self-image.

Prevention & Intervention

Systems Navigation, Outreach, and Prevention Services

Discover our Systems Navigation, Outreach, and Prevention Services, committed to making a positive impact. Through our culturally specific PAS program, we empower Latine youth and parents to prevent gender-based violence with a bilingual and bicultural curriculum addressing its root causes. Our PChIP initiative offers trauma-informed home visits, support, and educational resources to Portland families who have experienced sexual and/or domestic violence. We also provide specialized support for survivors of sex trafficking, offering advocacy, crisis intervention, and community outreach. Additionally, our SA Support Services extend vital assistance to survivors of sexual assault, including advocacy, protective orders, and outreach to raise awareness and provide resources.

Youth Based Prevention Programming

PAS (Prevencion de Agresion Sexual) is a culturally specific program aimed at preventing gender-based violence through a bilingual & bicultural curriculum that addresses the root causes of sexual violence. Our prevention programming is available to Latinx youth and parents through partnership with SUN programs and are also available as a stand-alone group curriculum through UNICA.

PChIP (Parent Child Intervention Program)

PChIP provides trauma informed culturally specific supportive and educational home visits to families in the Portland area who have experienced sexual and/or domestic violence. Advocates provide support through community advocacy, referral to therapy services, educational groups, client assistance, and case management to Latinx families who have experienced domestic violence, sexual assault, and/or human trafficking. Restricted to families living within the City of Portland.

Sex Trafficking Support Services

Provides advocacy, crisis intervention, safety planning, and protective orders as well as individual case plans among other services to survivors sexual trafficking. The Sexual Trafficking Survivor Advocate also offers outreach and trainings to the community related to sex trafficking support, intervention, and resources.

SA Support Services and Community Outreach

Provides advocacy, crisis intervention, assistance with protective orders, and safety plans as well as individual case plans to assist survivors obtain safety and stability. The Sexual Assault survivor advocate also offers outreach and trainings to the community related to sexual assault support, intervention, and resources.
