This year’s conference will feature keynote speaker Emilly Prado, author of Funeral for Flaca, along with a special musical performance by Las Cafeteras. Together, we will reflect, connect, and reimagine survivor-centered practices rooted in culture and led by community. Now offering 7 CEUs through MHACBO! The awards will be presented at our VOCES Conference on April 30, 2026. Submissions closed About Las Cafeteras Las Cafeteras, born and raised east of the Los Angeles River, blend roots music with Afro-Mexican rhythms, electronic beats, and powerful lyrics that reflect their community’s stories and vision for a more inclusive world. Using traditional instruments like the jarana, requinto, quijada, and tarima, they honor cultural traditions while creating a modern sound. They sing in five languages—English, Spanish, Spanglish, Love, and Justice—believing everyone understands at least one. Volunteer Be part of an impactful and inspiring day! Volunteers are essential to creating a welcoming, organized, and engaging experience for everyone attending the VOCES de la Comunidad Conference.
